The current Toyota Venza debuted in 2020 and is the American version of the Toyota Harrier crossover . And at the Guangzhou Auto Show, a slightly different Venza debuted. This option is intended for the PRC market and has its own interesting features. First of all, a different facial expression. The front fairing with a deaf insert between the headlights and the forward “nose” made the SUV look like a Toyota GR Supra sports car.
2022 Toyota Venza – Premium Hybrid Compact Family SUV
The redesign is needed so that buyers can differentiate between the Harrier and Venza crossovers, as both cars will be on sale in China. And if the Toyota Harrier produced by the FAW-Toyota joint venture outwardly hardly differs from its global counterparts, then the Venza model produced by the “competing” GAC-Toyota plant has acquired a more sporty here.
The 2022 Toyota Venza Hybrid will be available in only one engine option. It will carry a 2.5L inline 4 cylinder engine fused with three electric motors that work together to produce 219 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. The efficient powertrain comes paired with Toyota’s CVT transmission with AWD as standard. The EPA estimates that the Venza will deliver 40 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, which is almost double the ratings of other two-row mid-size SUVs such as the Passport and the Ford Edge. The 2022 Venza comes standard with Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive, a highly efficient system that takes maximum advantage of the hybrid powertrain’s benefits.
Instead of using a transfer case and driveshaft to the rear wheels, Electronic On-Demand AWD employs a separate rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed. It works seamlessly and transparently, preemptively distributing up to 80 percent of driving force to the rear wheels which helps suppress front wheel slip during off-the-line starts.
The system also enhances cornering agility by helping to reduce understeer. The 2021 Venza offers ample room for five in a highly maneuverable package. A host of tech-focused features are available, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with nine JBL speakers, 7-inch multi-information display (MID), digital rear-view mirror, and 10-inch color Head-Up Display. Other available features include a Star GazeTM fixed panoramic glass roof, a first-ever for Toyota, and heated and ventilated front seats that set the stage for true, graceful grand touring.
The 2022 Venza is equipped with eight airbags, including side curtain airbags. Toyota’s Star Safety System includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Smart Stop Technology (SST).
2022 Toyota Venza Hybrid Price
The Toyota Venza nameplate returned for the 2021 model offering 3 trim levels, namely the LE, XLE, and top-of-the-line Limited. The prices for the LE trim starts at $32,470, the XLE starts at $36,100, and the Limited trim costs $39,900. The 2022 Venza will be majorly unchanged, though we expect more trims to join the lineup.
