WCED Online Application 2023. Parents, get ready for the 2023 school year. You should apply to at least three or more schools, including your nearest schools to ensure that your child gets a place in 2023. Applications open 14 March 2022 and close 15 April 2022.

School admissions: Monday, 14 March – Friday, 15 April 2022. Please note: ALL queries regarding your child’s enrolment must be done via the WCED Admission System. Select the “Enquiries” button and provide specific details of your child’s registration so that we can assist you.

School admissions: Monday, 14 March – Friday, 15 April 2022.
- Apply to at least 3 schools (Including the ones closest to your home)
- Indicate your order of preference on the system
Parents | Guardians MUST upload the following supporting documents:
- The last official school Report Card | Results of the learner, for learners who have been to school.
- A study permit (foreign learners); OR
- Proof of application (study permit) or a police affidavitID | Birth certificate | passport of the learner; OR
- Immunisation card (Road to Health Chart) [Primary Schools Only]
- Proof of residence
- Contact the local WCED district office for advice
Parents must confirm acceptance of the places at schools between 27 May and 17 June 2022.
- After 17 June 2022, parents | guardians | wards only have 3 days to accept a place if they are offered a place at a school.
- Certified hardcopies must be submitted to the school where the learner will be attending within 7 days of the parent confirming the place at the school.

How do I get my child enrolled in a school of my choice? Some points to consider.
Apply early. Don’t wait till the last day.
Apply to more than one school. Know the law/check the school’s Admission Policy.
What is the admission age for Grade 1?
Compulsory school-going age (Grade 1) is 7 years in the year that the child is in Grade 1.
Admission to Grade R is 6 years in the year that the child is in Grade R.
- Birth certificate.
- Immunisation card.
- A transfer card/letter.
- Last school report card for learners who have been to school.
- A study permit issued by Home Affairs for foreign learners.
Is it important to enrol for Grade R?
- Yes. Early childhood development assists learners to cope better later on in their school careers.
Can a child be refused permission if they do not live in a school’s feeder zone?
- The WCED has not declared any feeder zones/areas.
Can schools charge a non-refundable deposit before accepting learner?
- No. Schools may not charge a fee before accepting a learner.
