The Vice President, Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged Tanzanians to stick together and not be distracted by the words spoken by people abroad assuring them the country is safe.
She said this today while laying the foundation stone for the construction of a one-storey building for the Handeni Rural District Council being built in Mkata.
Samia said it is normal for humans to find fault with the body like the flu and urged Tanzanians to stick together and pray for the nation.
“There is no important time for Tanzanians to unite and pray for the Nation as at this time,” said Suluhu.
“Let me assure my fellow citizens of Tanzania that we are safe, work hard to bring development … do not be distracted by the words of people abroad,” said Samia who has begun a five-day visit to Tanga region.
She expressed his satisfaction with the construction project of the Handeni Rural Council building which is expected to cost shs 5.3 billion.
Commenting on the project, the Executive Director of Handeni District Council, William Makufwe said it was designed by the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) and is being built by Suma JKT where so far it has reached 40 percent of the construction.
“Estimates made by the appraisers were that the building would cost Sh7.8 billion but using a ‘force account’ the cost has been reduced to Sh5.3. billion which means we have saved Sh2 billion,” said Makufwe.
The director said so far the council has received TSh2 billion from the central government for the construction of the building.
