The Directorate of Postgraduate Studies was established in 2009 to replace the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) that was established in 2006 with a population of less than 100 students. This has now grown to a population of more than 5,000 students with over 250 programmes offered by different departments.

The directorate is committed to overseeing the quality and relevance of the graduate education offered at the University of Dar es Salaam through administering postgraduate examinations, supervision of postgraduate studies, awarding of postgraduate degrees and diplomas. The directorate also ensures the competence of academic staff who participate in supervising and examining of graduate students as well as preparing and enforcing Senate approved rules and regulations pertaining to graduate studies.

October intake is now open and it will be closed on 30^th May 2020 for 1^st batch applicants.
