The development of Marine Parks and Reserves in Tanzania dates back to the 1960’s when surveys of marine habitats mainly reefs were conducted and several sites legislated as marine reserves in the mid 1970s. However, no specific management and institutional mechanisms were put in place to effectively manage the reserves apart from allocating the authority to the Department of Fisheries.

Marine Parks and Reserves Unit (MPRU) invites applications from suitably qualified public servants who are interested to join the MPRU through transfers as follows:
Position: Records Management Assistant II (1 Post)
Qualification and Experience
- Holders of Diploma (NTA Level 6) in one of the following fields:
- Records Management, Archives, Archive and Documentation, Records and Information Management or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.
Salary Scale: PGSS 4
Position: ICT Officer I (1 POST)
Qualification and Experience
- Holder of Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in one of the following fields:
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Database Administration, Computer Systems Analysis, Computer Systems Security, Network Administration, Web and Multimedia Administration, Computer Applications, Computer Programming or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution with working experience of at least four (4) years in related field.
Salary Scale: PGSS 8
Position: Park Ranger II (3 Post)
Qualification and Experience
- Holder of form four IV or VI Secondary Education, with certificate (NTA level 5) in one of the following fields:
- Aquaculture, Fisheries, Natural Resource Management, Marine Sciences or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution. Possession of Certificate in Basic Military Training from the national service will be an added advantage.
Salary Scale: PGSS 2
