Ndalicho Need HESLB To Be Prepared Toward Opening Of Universities

Minister of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Joyce Ndalichako has directed the Board of Student Loans for Higher Education prepared to pay the students at any time when colleges are opened.

The Minister issued such instructions today (Monday, May 18, 2020) during his professional visit to Dar es Salaam where he met with Higher Education Students Loan Board management. “In this period when higher education institutions are closed, Higher Education Students Loan Board must make sure that it uses this time to work on all student challenges so that when the universities is opened, students will be done on time,” said the Minister at the existing HESLB offices near TAZARA headquarters.

Prof. Ndalichako also used the visit to remind staff Higher Education Students Loan Board continue to take precautions against the corona virus infection.

Speaking at a meeting between the Minister and the HESLB management, Higher Education Students Loan Board CEO Abdul-Razaq Badru said HESLB is ready to serve the students whenever the Universities are opened. “We are ready.  government give money and will give our customers immediately when colleges opened”said Badru.

Badru added that his institution is finalizing its credit guide for the academic year 2020/2021 by involving stakeholders including students through their federation, TAHLISO.

Regarding the repayment of ripe loans, Badru said TZS 160 billion has been accumulated over the last nine months, July 2019 – April 2020.
