The Ministry of Home Affairs is one of the Government Ministries of the United Republic of Tanzania which is responsible for ensuring that the country enjoys peace and stability.
Its main responsibilities are: –
- Protecting the safety of citizens and their property.
- Maintain and rehabilitate prisoners.
- Facilitate and manage the immigration and entry of citizens and foreigners.
- Managing Fire and Rescue issues.
Providing services to refugees in the country
Managing the Community Service Program. - Creating and managing a People’s Identification and Registration System and issuing National IDs to citizens and visitors aged 18 and on.

According to the Framework adopted in 2013, the Ministry of Interior is made up of departments, with the following units:
