Msalato Girls Secondary School started on January 1962 at Mvumi area. The school shifted from Mvumi area to Msalato area on 02nd Feb, 1962 having 2 streams of form I and II with 36 students and 2 Australian teachers.
The school got the first Tanzanian teacher, Ms Madugalo on 25th May 1962.
It was owned by Anglican England Church. The first O-level graduation was held on 02th December 1964. The school had 07 teachers until 1965.
It was handled over to the government in 1970. It enrolled A-level students in 1987. The first A- level graduation was held on 1989. Buildings construction have been completed in different sessions from 1961-1974.
