The Amish group was formed in Europe by Jacob Amman in the years 1644-1720 as part of a divided Mennonite church. The mission of this group was to try to recreate the early Mennonite church traditions, traditions and practices that seemed to be lost. So far no conclusions have been reached about this group and what its position is in the Christian faith. Some people regard them as conservative (not radical) Protestants. Others compare them to some independent European churches that resemble the Mennonite church.

The traditions, customs and traditions of this group were written by its founder Menno Simons (1496-1561) and by 1632 the Amish faith had been written. Many of the Amish who were separated from the Mennonite church lived south of the Rhine province in Switzerland. In the 17th century this group was again split from what is believed to be a lack of discipline among them.

As a result of that split some of them emigrated to the United States in Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri Ohio, as well as other states at the beginning of the 18th century. This group made great efforts to preserve the cells of the faith that existed in Europe in the seventeenth century. They sought to curb the emergence of modern civilization by establishing traditions, cultures and customs separated from the rapidly expanding American.

Some critics like James Hoorman say, In the United States the Amish have one great liturgy but as the years go on it becomes more and more interchangeable. Now the Amish are divided into four main groups, namely; Swartzengruber, Old Order, Andy Weaver, and New Order Amish. All of these groups work differently while varying in how they live according to their faith.

The Swartzengruber Amish are the most conservative conservatives in the faith, followed by the Old Order Amish which is the most prominent group. The Andy Weaver went some way but the New Order Amish was the closest they came.

What Amish Believing

The Amish are a group of people who follow the teachings of Jacob Ammann (Founder of this group), a Swiss citizen living in the seventeenth century. It is one of the Protestant Christian denominations very similar to the church and the Mennonites.

Right now many of them live in the United States following traditional practices that include refusing to take an oath in court or elsewhere that will require you to take an oath, not to vote or to perform military service. They completely disagree with the new and modern technologies used in everyday human life. The transportation used by these people is horse-drawn carriages.

One of the most famous Amish scripture verses in their faith is the book of James 1:27 (Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this. . By their own interpretation, safeguarding the world is a far cry from the things that the world does for instance driving cars, watching TV, going to theaters, dressing up in dresses and decorations like that.

In addition, these people do not live in electricity houses and do not use phones. All these and similar things in their interpretation are secular things which are forbidden in the book of James.
To get the power to operate a variety of equipment that requires extra power to operate these people use generators as well as horse-drawn carts as a substitute for trailers for fieldwork.

There is a dress code for women and men, their clothes are made by themselves and men do not shave their hair or beard. The bishop is the leader of a church divided into so-called district groups, the order of worship is laid down by that leader. The services are performed every Sunday like other churches, but they do not have churches in the sense of the building but the services are held in their homes.

The Amish believe that JESUS CHRIST is the Son of God, who died for our sins, and HE is the way of salvation. Everything they do in their lives must be connected with God. They consider their work to be a good and special privilege from the Lord. If their good work is able to cover up and dispel evil, then they believe that the Lord will give them eternal life in heaven.

These people are generally good, hardworking people who make sure they stand in the same way of God that they will receive the crown of eternal life. They believe that the Amish are a living and not a religion. They have chosen to live a normal life in order to spend more time at home with their families, rather than going through the latest and greatest uses of modern technology.

As a group these people do not believe in the protection of salvation, they believe that one can lose their salvation if that person is separated from God by doing things that are against Him. They do not believe in infant baptism but also do not believe in water baptism. Some of them believe that JESUS CHRIST paid the debt of our sins and have thus received the grace of salvation.

But others believe that their salvation comes from their actions by keeping themselves from the things of the world. Looking closely at the lives of these people is how they try to separate themselves from this world. But it is good to know that we cannot isolate ourselves from others because the scriptures command us to preach the gospel to the world; ” Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age ‘(Matthew 28: 19-20).

We cannot be separated from the world because we are called to preach the word in the world. It is good to recognize and believe that we are saved by grace and not by our actions; ” But when the goodness of our Savior God, and his love for mankind, was revealed, he saved us; not because of works of righteousness which we have done; but by His mercy, by washing of the new birth and being renewed by the Holy Spirit ” (Titus 3: 4-5). These are just a few of the few things I can tell you today about this belief. There is much more I will explain in the future to further our understanding.
