A brief history of Ikungi District Council.
March 02, 2012 Hon. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete President of the United Republic of Tanzania through GN No. 73 announced the creation of this district and on May 03, 2013 Hon. Mizengo Kayanza Pinda Prime Minister through GN. Na. 96 announced the Official Establishment of Ikungi. Ikungi District Council is derived from Singida District Council. The Council officially started performing its duties on 01/07/2013.
It is one of the 6 Singida Regional Councils. The council is located between 40 and 60 degrees Latitude south of the equator, 340 degrees and 350 degrees East latitude. It receives an average rainfall of 600-700 mm per year with temperatures between 15oC-30oC.
